It is no mystery that taking your car in for an MOT is one of the most unglamorous things you will do with your dream car but short of committing a felony in an attempt to avoid an MOT there isn’t actually much we can do. So to ensure your MOT experience goes off without a hitch here are the top three reasons MOT’s fail –

  1. Vehicle Lamps & Reflectors

Accounting for over 17% of MOT failures, headlamps come in at number one on our countdown. Despite the severe safety implications this can pose it is an issue that can be fixed by any mechanic in a matter of minutes, don’t let this be the reason your MOT doesn’t pass.

  1. Tread Depth

The tyres on your car are essential to your safety and make up to 14% of MOT failures in the UK. The minimum tread depth is 1.6mm although we recommend 3mm as the minimum given the drop in performance from worn out tyres. Be sure to check yours today.

  1. Wipers

Another major safety issue but one that is easily and cheaply rectified. Wipers tend to deteriorate over time and it isn’t always obvious they are past their best, check for smearing on your windscreen next time it rains and if they start to leave smears have them changed.

At Barrowford MOT we strive to provide our clientele with the finest service which is why when you bring your car to us for an MOT it will leave with a free hot wash and wax giving your car that bit of TLC on the outside as well as the inside. Call us today on 01282 696351 for bookings.
