Our Responsibilties

Corporate Social Responsibility

Barrowford MOT Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is adapted; ensuring “looking out for local communicates and environmental issues” is applied in all of our operations.

You’re our customer but, in the local community, you’re also our neighbour. Being a good corporate citizen is an essential part of how we do business. Locally, we have an ongoing commitment to helping and supporting the communities we operate in, better understanding environmental issues and investing in our people.

We define corporate social responsibility as being willing to help others, being environmentally conscious and socially tolerant. With those guiding principles in mind, we’ve designed a special programme to promote tolerance and equal opportunities, and actively support social and environmental protection programmes.

Barrowford MOT supports The Prince’s Trust, which enables 14-30 year olds to get their lives working, developing confidence and skills to get into work or start their own businesses. It particularly targets those who are unemployed, under skilled, within or leaving the criminal justice system or leaving care.

The 12 week full time programme undertaken at Barrowford MOT is aimed to re-engage young people aged 16-25 to help them to think positively about their futures. Work placements form a very valuable part of this experience as many young people face barriers to employment, not least a local of confidence due to little experience or knowledge of the workplace.

Our waste oil is 100% recycled through our external partners. Our external partners are certified operators, whom are licensed for collection and waste disposal. Barrowford MOT works stringently within current Legislations ensuring:

  • Operators hold a registered waste carriers license.
  • Provide us with a controlled waste transfer note for every collection
  • Are able to give us reports on our annual carbon savings.

Barrowford MOT is actively seeking other ways in recycling waste oil and supporting local communities. We are fully compliant with The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 and by Regulation 12 of the Waste (England’s and Wales) Regulations 2011. Our external partners forms HWCN01VIII are consistently audited.

Barrowford MOT takes a frontline stance on fundraising within Cancer Support. We are currently supporting numerous charities and support groups across Lancashire and Pendle. “Donna’s Dream House” is a holiday home in Blackpool offering United Kingdom children and their families’ free holidays. These children are usually too ill to take holidays abroad but are still able to enjoy the sunshine, fun and laughter at Donn’s Dream House.

We have a “graze box” operational within our office, whereby all funds go straight to “Donna’s Dream House”.

Barrowford MOT are seeking/building a new Apprenticeship model, assisting local people in developing their skills and employment prospects. We are currently engaging with local Colleges and are keen in the near future, employing and developing Technicians on a long term basis.

Barrowford MOT has a 100% stringent policy on local buying. We support local businesses, thus sets a difference to the local economy. From computer repairs, calibration or even lunch we stand firm and strong with local businesses. We promote local buying as it supports and develops community groups, creates more jobs, invests in the community and encourages local prosperity. We are actively seeking to join numerous local action groups and share our vision, “Local Buying, Local Prosperity”.
